Description
Bouquet de Armide is a European jacquard wall tapestry based on a 19th century wall-paper created around 1855. At this time, Louis XVI style was in fashion, which was actually both a last phase of Rococo and a first phase of Neoclassicism. The wall-papers are inspired by a spirit to represent nature. These panoramic views give the impression of being a in a large formal garden. In this piece we see a foreground of flowers with a subtle background hinting at large garden grounds beyond the arches.
