Scenes Gallantes Without Border French Tapestry

Scenes Gallantes is a French jacquard wall tapestry. This piece comes from an original woven in the early 15th century tapestry and on display at the Cluny Museum - Paris. Against a background of leaves and flowers, a lady is offered a delicacy from the hands of her page. All the characters are dressed in the Italian fashion which was introduced in France after Charles VIII conquered Naples in 1495. The background is done in the millefleur style on a black backdrop.
