Le Descente au Touri French Tapestry

Le Descente au Touri, or Down to the Tournament, is a French Jacquard wall tapestry. Highly stylized, this epic composition portrays a medieval tournament in all its spectacle. The artwork comes from Jean-Paul Laurens (1838-1921). This faithful interpretation of the original wall tapestry Une Descente De Tournoi à la Fin du XVe Siècle, woven at the Royal Manufacture of Gobelins from 1895 to 1899.
