Magnolia French Tapestry

Magnolia is a European jacquard wall tapestry. It is an extract of a larger work called Paysage Exotique. The original is based on a wall paper panoramic of the 19th century, Isola Bella, attributed to Eugene Ehrmann (1804-1896) and to Georges Zipelius (1808-1890). The work was created to display in great detail the new plants such as the magnolia and palm tree which had been discovered by European botanist and naturalists on their travels via ocean voyages. Here we see the magnolia tree with its magnificent white flowers, surrounded by tropical foliage. The morning light in this work is captured perfectly and gives an atmosphere that is almost tangible. A captivating work depicting a very exotic landscape.
