        About
Pont Japonnais, or Japanese Bridge, is a jacquard wall tapestry woven in Belgium based on the painting by Claude Monet, The Japanese Bridge at Giverny. Monet painted many scenes from his home at Giverny which sits on the right bank of the River Seine where the river Epte meets the Seine. In this work Monet retained a subtle linear perspective channeling the eye into depth; conserving a characteristic of naturalistic painting where the picture plane is conceived as a window through which one looks at a view.
