Sous Les Tropiques French Tapestry

Sous Les Tropiques is a French woven jacquard wall tapestry. The artwork comes from a wall-paper panoramic from the 19th century; Isotla Bella; attributed to Eugene Ehrmann (1804-1896), and to Georges Zipelius(1808-1890). The work was created to display in great detail the new plants such as the palm tree and the magnolia which had been discovered by European botanist and naturalists on their travels via ocean voyages. Flamoyant is seen here among smaller palms and other exotic plants in an exceptional piece of landscape art. The atmosphere of the tropical garden is captured beautifully in this tapestry.
